Risks and Limitations in Fetal Ultrasound :
Routine Fetal Ultrasound are considered safe for both mother and baby. Improper use of Fetal Ultrasound, however, cannot be considered entirely risk-free. Researchers have not noted any adverse effects of Fetal Ultrasound on the children followed up for several years after birth, however, it is important to be cautious.
Fetal Ultrasound also has limitations, which are encountered rarely. For example, it may not detect all birth defect- or may incorrectly suggest a birth defect which may not be actually present.
